Your Chance to Perform at the World’s Largest 10K

"Oh Say Can You Sing" National Anthem Contest Now Open

ATLANTA - May 12, 2025 - Before tens of thousands of runners, walkers and wheelers begin the world's largest 10K on July 4, the streets of Buckhead will fall silent for a performance of the national anthem. That voice could be yours.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Atlanta Track Club have officially opened submissions for the "Oh Say Can You Sing" National Anthem Contest, a community tradition that invites local performers to apply for the honor of singing the national anthem at the 56th Running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race. A second contest is also open for youth singers to perform before the Chick-fil-A Peachtree Junior, held on the morning of July 3.

The entry period runs from now until Friday, May 30. Interested singers can enter here.

The top five finalists will be announced Wednesday, June 4 and the public will have the chance to vote for the honorary singers at ajc.com/peachtree through Sunday, June 15.

"The national anthem performance has become a defining tradition of the Peachtree experience," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club and Race Director of the Peachtree. "This contest not only gives local talent the opportunity to contribute to one of Atlanta's most cherished events, but it also reinforces the sense of community and shared celebration that defines the Fourth of July in Running City USA."

To qualify, entrants must be Georgia residents and submit a video recording of themselves performing "The Star-Spangled Banner." Singers for the Peachtree must be at least 15 years old, and youth singers for the Chick-fil-A Peachtree Junior must be 10-14 years old. Auditions for youth singers must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.

In addition to "The Star-Spangled Banner," the Peachtree's singer will also perform "God Bless America" prior to the national anthem.

Last year's July 4 winner was the Four Fellers, a local barbershop quartet who delivered an a cappella rendition of the national anthem, showcasing the diverse musical styles embraced by the contest. Similarly, 10-year-old Dior J. Portis captivated the audience with his performance at the Peachtree Junior, highlighting the talent of young artists in our community.
