2026 All-Metro Track & Field Awards Ceremony Honors 56 Athletes

ATLANTA - June 4, 2026 - Atlanta Track Club honored its 2026 All-Metro Track & Field Team on Wednesday evening at the All-Metro Track & Field Awards Ceremony, recognizing 56 of metro Atlanta's top high school athletes for their achievements during the 2026 season. Four standout athletes were selected through public voting as the 2026 All-Metro Athletes of the Year.

"Each year, the All-Metro Track & Field awards give us a chance to recognize the dedication and determination that define this sport," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club. "The 2026 team has shown remarkable talent and resilience, and tonight we celebrate not just their achievements, but the example they set for the next generation."

Melanie Doggett of Landmark Christian School was named Girls Track Athlete of the Year following a historic freshman season that has already placed her among the sport's rising global talents. Doggett, an age group world record holder in the 200 meters, is a two-time national champion in the 100m and 200m. She posted season bests of 11.01 in the 100m and 22.71 in the 200m, earning All-Metro honors in both events and emerging as one of the fastest high school sprinters in the nation.

"It's very exciting to be honored [at the All-Metro Track & Field ceremony] as a freshman and as one of the only freshmen here," Doggett said. "I'm hoping to be back all four years, and I hope everyone else here knows how good of a job they did and how valued they are."

Jayson Jones of Norcross High School earned Boys Track Athlete of the Year after a dominant sophomore season in the 400m. Undefeated this year, Jones recorded a season-best 46.12 and finished the season ranked among the nation's top 10 in the event.

Janessa Brown of Buford High School was named Girls Field Athlete of the Year after an undefeated sophomore season in the long jump. Ranked among the nation's top five long jumpers, Brown established herself as one of the country's premier horizontal jumpers while maintaining an undefeated record this season.

Khalen Pinkard of Carrollton High School was selected as Boys Field Athlete of the Year following a decorated senior season. Pinkard, the GHSA Class 6A state champion in the triple jump, is ranked among the top five nationally in that event and within the top 25 in the long jump. An All-Metro honoree in both disciplines, he will continue his career at the University of Kentucky.

In addition to the athlete recognitions, state championship coaches from across metro Atlanta were honored for their leadership and success during the 2026 season.

In partnership with Atlanta Youth Running Foundation, Atlanta Track Club Foundation awarded two $10,000 scholarships. Andrew Bitsko, a senior from Lakeside High School DeKalb, received the Hawthorne Wesley Scholarship, and Saige Demeritte, a senior from North Paulding High School, was awarded the Patty Foell Scholarship.

As one of Atlanta Track Club's longest-running traditions, the All-Metro Track & Field Awards Ceremony continues to celebrate the athletes and coaches shaping the future of the sport in metro Atlanta. The full list of 2026 honorees is included below.
