College Football Playoff Trophy Trot Returns to Atlanta in 2025
ATLANTA - August 26, 2024 - The College Football Playoff (CFP) Trophy Trot is coming back to Atlanta, expanding the electricity of national championship weekend from the stadium to the streets.
In partnership with the College Football Playoff, the CFP Foundation and the Atlanta Football Host Committee, Atlanta Track Club today announced that the race, a key event of national championship weekend, will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Celebrating both the city and the sport of college football, the race will take runners through downtown Atlanta.
As the CFP National Championship moves to different cities each year, the Trophy Trot follows, bringing together local residents and visiting fans to become active participants in the excitement. The 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship is set for Monday, January 20, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The title game and the race last visited Atlanta in 2018, and Atlanta is the first city to repeat as host of the festivities.
"This was the site of one of our most successful road races in CFP history," said Ryan Allen Hall, CFP Senior Director of Public Events and Sponsorships. "You won't find a stronger running community or a more passionate college football fan base than here in Atlanta. Bringing these two groups together with the Trophy Trot is incredibly exciting, and we're eager to bring the race to life in January."
The Trophy Trot will return to International Plaza, its 2018 venue, with the added option of a 10K distance. Participants in both the 5K and 10K races will receive a T-shirt and finisher's medal, along with opportunities to win tickets to the national championship game. The top overall male, female and nonbinary finishers in each race will secure two tickets to the game, with an additional pair awarded through a random drawing.
Additionally, teachers can receive $10 off registration with the code EYFT2025. As part of the CFP Foundation's mission to support PK-12 education through its Extra Yard for Teachers platform, the Trophy Trot honors the vital role of teachers and celebrates their contribution during the national championship festivities.
"Atlanta Track Club has partnered with the CFP to organize its annual Trophy Trot much like we did the first time the CFP National Championship was held in Atlanta in 2018," said Rich Kenah, the Club's CEO. "We're looking forward to a high-energy weekend when Running City USA can show its love for college football.
At the same time, it's a bonus to be able to help recognize the contributions of not only our Atlanta teachers, but teachers everywhere."
