Peachtree Road Closure Set for July 2–4 as Atlanta Track Club Constructs Start Line Early
Maps and Traffic Plans Now Available for Race Week
ATLANTA - June 20, 2025 — As the countdown to the 56th Running of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race begins, Atlanta Track Club released the official road closure schedule, traffic plans and guest maps. With events scheduled from July 2 through July 4, tens of thousands of runners, walkers, volunteers and spectators will participate in Atlanta's most iconic summer tradition.
This year introduces a major new feature: the Peachtree Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix will debut at Lenox Square. The move from the Georgia World Congress Center to the heart of Buckhead brings the experience into a walkable, vibrant setting surrounded by dining, shopping and hotel options.
"The 56th Running of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race is a citywide celebration of health, community and tradition," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club and Race Director of the Peachtree. "By expanding into a full weekend and moving the Expo to Lenox Square, we're giving participants and fans more ways to be part of the experience."

Road Closures and Traffic Plans
Key road closures begin Wednesday, July 2 at 12:00 a.m., when Peachtree Road will close between Lenox Parkway and Lenox Road as the Start Truss of the Peachtree will be fully constructed, in place and ready days before the race. The road will remain closed around 9:30 a.m. on July 4. Additional rolling closures and detours are scheduled throughout the week:
- July 3: A rolling closure on Peachtree Road from Lenox Parkway to Piedmont begins at 8:45 a.m. for the Chick-fil-A Peachtree Junior and reopens by 10:00 a.m.
- July 4: Start area road closures begin at 4:30 a.m.; the Shepherd Center wheelchair race begins at 6:12 a.m., elite women at 6:43 a.m., and the first wave starts at 6:50 a.m. All start waves will have taken off by 8:30 a.m. A full and detailed schedule will be included later.
APD will be stationed throughout the area, including Lenox Parkway, Lenox Road, Kingsboro Road, and East Paces Ferry to support traffic control and safety.

Kenah emphasized the importance of early communication around road closures and traffic information ahead of race weekend:
"Shutting down one of Atlanta's busiest corridors for a full holiday weekend is no small feat — and it speaks to the significance of the Peachtree," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club and race director. "Thanks to months of planning and partnership with city officials, law enforcement, and transportation teams, we're able to safely transform Peachtree Road into a stage for one of the world's most celebrated running events. It's a powerful reminder of what's possible when an entire city rallies around health, community, and tradition."
