Atlanta Public Schools Track & Field Teams Shine at 2026 GHSA State Championships
From May 11-14, 2026, more than a dozen Atlanta Public Schools track & field programs showed depth and determination on one of the state's biggest stages at the Georgia High School Association Track & Field Championships at the University of Georgia's Spec Towns Track.
From first-time qualifiers to seasoned competitors, APS athletes delivered across events, with every school represented and most programs producing at least one state medalist — a reflection of steady growth across the district this season. That progress comes alongside continued collaboration with Atlanta Track Club and the Atlanta Track Club Foundation, whose support of school-based running programs, coaching resources and competitive opportunities has helped expand access to the sport and strengthen development pathways for student-athletes. The results were evident in Athens, where APS competitors not only qualified for the meet, but made a consistent impact across sprints, distance races, relays and field events.
Leading the way was KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, whose boys team captured the Class 2A state title for the second consecutive year, marking a milestone moment for the program and for APS. Their championship performance, paired with podium finishes from athletes across the district, underscored a broader trend — APS programs are building momentum, raising the standard and finding success at the highest level of high school competition in Georgia.
