42 Runners Named to All-Metro XC Team

NOVEMBER 8, 2023 - ATLANTA - The reigning All-Metro High School Cross Country Runners of the Year will defend their titles as they lead a roster of 42 athletes from six counties selected by Atlanta Track Club as its 2023 All-Metro honorees.

Junior Tommy Latham and senior Ruby Little, both of Marist School, top the list of athletes announced today, just three days after the GHSA State Championships where Latham won the 6A title for the second consecutive year, and Little finished as runner-up.The 2023 All-Metro team includes 10 state champions. Voting for the Runner of the Year is open now.

Other state champions named to the team include Creekview senior Katelynn Dollar, who set the course record on the notoriously challenging Carrollton state meet course, running 17:49 for 5,000 meters in her 6A victory. Joining Dollar are 3A state champion Weezie Moore (freshman, Wesleyan); 4A state champions Zahara Bernal (junior, Pace Academy) and Joseph Jaquot (senior, Westminster School); 5A state champions Sanam Rangaraj (senior, Cambridge High School) and Jacob Pullen (senior, Maynard Jackson High School); and 7A state champions Mary Nesmith (sophomore, Marietta) and Joseph Minecci (senior, Walton High School).

"Atlanta may be Running City USA, but the future of running is strong across the entire state of Georgia," said Rich Kenah, CEO of Atlanta Track Club. "It's inspiring to see not only the runners who are being honored for the second, third or even fourth time, but also first-time honorees experiencing this life-long memory."

A full list of honorees can be found below. Runners are selected based on their performance at the state meet, major invitationals and head-to-head competitions.

The athletes will be recognized at an invitation-only banquet in Midtown Atlanta on December 5. There, they will be named to the first, second and third teams. The evening will culminate with two athletes being named Runners of the Year.

Held annually since 1964, the All-Metro Cross Country and Track and Field Banquets are Atlanta Track Club's oldest tradition, with more than 5,800 high school athletes honored since the Club's founding.
